A Type I certification allows the technician to work primarily on small appliances, such as domestic refrigerators, window air units, PTACs, and vending machines.
A Type II certification allows the technician to work on equipment using a high pressure refrigerant, such as HCFC-22. Equipment utilizing this include residential air conditioners and heat pumps, supermarket refrigeration, and process refrigeration.
A Type III technician primarily works on equipment using a low pressure refrigerant, such as HCFC-123 or CFC-11. These units are primarily chillers.
The EPA Certification program offered by Paladin HVAC is designed to provide the student with the best possible chance at successfully passing all sections of the test the first time and becoming universally certified.
Many recent changes in the HVAC service field are due to the rapid changes in technology and a growing concern for the environment. The federal government requires all individuals who service an air conditioning system or who use refrigerant material to become certified. Contact us for more information on how we help.
